Meeting with Jaimie Moon, model and makeup artist.
Lorraine d’Arts: How did you start?
I first followed an artistic course in order to become a stylist or tailor-made seamstress for 4 years, then I headed for a degree in plastic arts at the university of Metz where I was able to experiment with many things including drawing. , sculpture or photography. But it was while posing for a friend as part of a study project that I got a taste for posing. This is why art and fashion are linked to me. Fashion follows me even in my work: I am a manager in a clothing store, being a model is more of a hobby.
Lorraine d’Arts: What does modeling work consist of?
The work of a model requires rigor contrary to what one might think, including in a game close to that of the actor, because in addition to the poses, you have to work on your attitude and your expressions while bringing your touch. In addition, you have to be professional during the shoots: be punctual, positive and give your all.
Lorraine d’Arts: You seem to have a taste for dark atmospheres, can you tell us about it?
I like dark atmospheres since I was 13/14 years old, at a time when I was addicted to powerful and rock sounds, also since this kind of atmosphere speaks to me as well as mysticism, occultism, so that small, during carnival, I wore a Morticia Adams costume!
Lorraine d’Arts: What do you look for in a photographer?
What I look for in a photographer is first of all a good technique, but also someone who has a clear vision of what he wants and who gets it. He must be creative and hardworking. I choose them by looking through their books. If a photo touches me and I say to myself » wow » then it’s gone.
Lorraine d’Arts: Have you always been comfortable with your body?
I haven’t always been comfortable with my body. As a teenager, I was a twig and people pointed at me, but then thanks to athletics and now to crossfit, I was able to sculpt my body by gaining muscle. I then learned to accept his changes, because he was a little less thin. Modeling has helped me become aware of my body and show it off. I feel more like a woman, graceful. Now I like it when I see it on screen, because it is the result of my hard work.
Lorraine d’Arts: You are also a make-up artist, can you tell us about it?
I’ve always had a passion for makeup, ever since I was little when I watched my mother do it. I tried to do the same and stole her lipstick! Since then, I tinker, I experiment, on me or my friends. I read about new makeup techniques and follow YouTube tutorials. And then, one day, my friend Fred Kyrel gave me the chance to become a make-up artist on a shoot and now everything is coming together, and I’m contacted both as a model and for make-up.
