How did you start?
I was a special education teacher for 15 years, but before that, 27 years ago, I had studied in a school of applied arts. One day I wanted to change direction and do “creative”. At that time, I started drawing on nails after training, then make up after studying the arts and now body painting after meeting people. Specifically, I started artistic make up and Body Paint on August 28, 2015.
For someone who doesn’t know, the Make up seems to be quite basic…
In reality, it’s true that there is make-up for shooting, which consists of embellishing the models, but not only, there is a creative approach in my work. For example for body painting, there is a dimension of ephemeral art based on drawing, even if I keep a photographic trace.
What is your approach?
It’s a simple question of pleasure and desire, even if the Body Paintings are more my own projects, after like all the arts, like painting, we like it or not, whatever the setting such as a festival for example where, after the Body Painting, the photos of the work are exhibited.
How do you view the evolution of your work?
I’m learning new techniques like airbrushing, brushwork… But I still see the flaws! That said, I am proud of my work, because by trial and error, I realize projects that are out of the ordinary, such as creating cat head prostheses for a project on the theme of ancient Egypt. Learning and improving takes time, and I prefer to go step by step.
What are your inspirations?
Sometimes I am inspired by Magritte or Douanier Rousseau, and I never reproduce, I prefer to start from my experience, my encounters and projects.
